SEEK HIM PERSONALLY, SEEK HIM CONTINUALLY

READ

“1 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem.2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, and walked in the ways of David his father; and he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.3 For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet a boy, he began to seek the God of David his father,” -2 Chronicles 34:1-3a

THINK

Matt mentioned Josiah sought God both personally, and continually. What does seeking God look like in your life today? How should/could that be different?
Verse two tells us that Josiah “did what was right in the eyes of the Lord” and he “did not turn aside to the right hand or the left”. Why do you think that was?
Verse three actually answers our last question; “For in the eighth year of his reign…he began to seek…God” How do you think that seeking God caused him to do “what was right” and “not turn aside”?
Look for a second at John 5:19
“19 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.” - John 5:19
We know that Jesus was fully man and yet was without sin, and I believe that he gives us the secret right here in John 5:19. Do you see it? What is it?
He was in constant communication with His Father. He didn’t choose any decision on His own. He didn’t take any job, trip, or activity without the Father’s direction. Like a life GPS it gave Jesus the exact, perfect will of God the Father. For us pressing into God is the only way to learn to hear the Father in every situation. If you have surrendered your life to Christ then He’s already equipped you to be victorious you just have to learn when and how to use what. How is your life GPS operating? When was the last time you turned it on and listened?

PRAY

These thoughts and prayers are just a guide to get you started in your conversation with God. Think of them as conversation starters rather than a check list to quickly pray.
The kind of passionate seeking God that changes your generation is hard, persistent, and it will bring about hardship. There will no doubt come some sort of distraction that will attempt to edge out your time seeking God over the next month, it’s the things that we place the most value on that we use our time doing.
Pray that you will have the discipline to stick with it for the whole 30 days.

As you seek God you will be drawn deeper into Him, and with that comes a greater love of His character and his love for you. In light of that we’ll quickly see sin in our lives and the decisions that put us there. Holiness is not easy. Opposition from the enemy is promised, as is persecution from the world. It’s here that we decide if it’s worth it.

Pray that you will release the boldness God has given you to be a city on a hill that cannot be hidden.

Stop right now and plan a time each day that you’re going to protect each day to seek God for the next 30 days.

Advent {Day 19}: THIS is “Church”

In the New Testament of the Bible, the book of Acts talks about the first church and how it was defined by community.
True community is what makes the church Church--> Doing life together!

Our family is memorizing Acts 2:42-47. To be honest, my husband and 3-year-old were and I hear it so often it's in my head. I want to purposely memorize this with them in an attempt to live out what those 1st "devoted" followers of Christ knew to do so naturally.

42They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

We are so blessed to be apart of true community through our Sunday school class, Journey, at Central Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, AR.

Our families are learning what it means to devote themselves to the apostles' teachings.

We are already fellowshiping and eating together on a regular basis.

And we are waiting in eager anticipation of many wonders and miraculous signs to be done through us.

We are growing closer together as the body of Christ and we are meeting needs as we see them {having everything in common}.

Many of us would sell our possessions and goods to give to anyone in need and that desire is growing rapidly.

We continue to meet together at our Church and of course more eating with one another in homes with glad and sincere hearts.

We praise God and want to be adding to our number daily with those being saved {not swap'n sheep}!!!

Do you know the Christ that bonds people in community like this? If not, MESSAGE ME! I'd love to introduce you!
If you do know Christ, do you have a community of believers to do life with?

Advent {Day 15}: Cubbie’s Christmas Party

Last night I skipped out on our youth serves {where I normally serve} to hang out with my oldest daughter in her Awana Cubbie class for their "Happy Birthday Jesus" Party!!!

They started out the night by practicing their song for Sunday's Christmas fellowship. "Ring the Bells on Christmas"

Then they played in the gym for their regular Cubbie game time. RUN!

Then they headed back to their room and heard the story of Jesus' birthday. They retold the story using their felt board characters and made a craft- "Baby Jesus" in a manger.

After knowing about Whose birthday we were celebrating we began the party with some cheese pizza. {oops, I forgot and already fed my kiddo dinner}

Guess who didn't eat any pizza and only chug-a-lugged her drink before dessert because her slacker mamma forgot they were eating at the party and fed her dinner before the party???

Then they decorated their cupcakes for Jesus' birthday. We sang "Happy Birthday" and chowed down on some goodies!

{She was intense with this frosting...refused to get more and was determined to spread this miniscule amount over then entire top of the cupcake--->cut little weirdo!}

GREAT NIGHT! I so enjoyed spending time with my baby and her friends. Watching her interact with all her friends. Getting to know all of her friends and teacher a little better!

What fun ways are you teaching your child about Whose Birthday we are celebrating this time of year?

George Muller

My girls and I were sitting at the table this morning eating breakfast when all of a sudden my 3.5-year-old ask me, "'Member George Muller?" I said I did and then we had a conversation about who he was and where we had heard about him. When she didn't trust my memory she began singing, "George MUUUller, I WAnt to Know!"

Would you like to know a bit about good 'ole George?

"GEORGE MULLER - A Man Who Simply Trusted God...reflections by & about an ordinary man who placed implicit trust in an extraordinary God and took His Word at face value - "open your mouth wide, and I will fill it." (Psalm 81:10)"

God can do extraordinary things in our lives when we trust Him enough to let Him! God can do amazing things in the lives of those around us as well but we have to be willing to listen to His guidance! Be extra sensitive to God's prompting, not just this season but even more so because there are so many hurts that are magnified this time of year.

Do you have any personal stories of God's provision for you, your family, or friends? Do you have any stories about how you were able to be used by God in provision for someone else?
