I wanna show you how I made my new address plaque for my house {2 years of living here with no number on the house was prolly long enough}! When we started fixing up our house to sell it I remembered I still didn't put up our house number anywhere on our house. Good thing we don't order a lot of pizza to be delivered. This is my front door...

See, very symmetrical. I wasn't quite sure where to put the number. I decided I'd but it above the door, spelled out since our house number is 5. Yep, just 5. "Number 5". Confuses a lot of people. Sounds like an apartment. We tell friends our address and they wait patiently for the letter to follow the 5. Ya know, 5B, 5D. I digress.
DIY Plaque:

I found this solid wood plaque at Wally World for ~$6.oo

I broke out my acrylic paint. I chose black and white.After I finished the painting, I PRINTED the word five off a word document in some fancy cursive font. Make sure to let the ink dry thoroughly.
I cut the word out leaving as little of the white as possible.
Then I used Modge Podged it glue down the paper. Mine ended up being a lil off centered...measure:!
After I glued the bottom and top of the word down {gently so you don't tear the moist paper or smear the ink} I sprayed the entire plaque with a spray clear paint for a sealant since it will be out in the weather.
Lastly, I had my hubs climb on a ladder, center the plaque and use 2 large screws to hold the plaque in place.

 What are some creative ways you display your house number?

Daddy Daughter Date Night {Thoughtful Thursday}

I've talked before about How I LOVE when my husband dates other women but just wanted to make sure everyone knew about Chick-fil-a's Daddy Daught Date Night. They support daddy's setting aside special times to show their daughters what healthy dating should look like.

I helped our daughter get dolled up for their funny night on the town with daddy. They got to pick out one of their fancy dresses, get their hair fixed up and even got to wear some lip gloss! We talked about how fun it can be to have times where we look extra special. While primping we talked about manners, and how much their daddy loves them like Jesus, no matter what and wants to spend time with them, talk with them, get to know them even more and just having some fun.

They had a ball {pun intended}! WHen they got to Chick-fil-a they showed their paper with their printed reservation information on it. They were then seated at a special table that had been decorated just for them with a pink table clothe. One of the employees came to their table to take their orders, took their payment there, and returned with change and their meals just like a 'fancy' restaurant. Chick-fil-a had a balloon and a Rose for each girl. They ate, and talked, ate and talked and then played in the toy.

I knew they were home by the loud commotion when they burst in the door trying to tell me about all that had happened. {swoon}

My hubs takes our girl on dates often. Some times its to run an errand, to a favorite restaurant for ice cream and touch screen games and some times it to Chick-fil-a for a full-blown fancy dancy date. They treasure them all.

Does your husband date your daughter(s)? Do you have any inexpensive date ideas to share?

Here’s my thoughtfulness for the week:

Kids helping in the kitchen is my fav! When they help make it they seem to eat it better {most of the time}. Today Izzie is helping me make

Mini Meat Loafs

1 lb ground beef {we use lean}
1/4 cup quick oats {might want a little more}
1 tsp Oregano
1tsp Paprika
1 tsp Basel Leaves
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper
2 tsp Onion Pwd
1 egg
1/4 cup Ketchup {and some drizzled on top}

Mix all ingrediants in on bowl

You can use a chopper {your your hands for a more thorough mix}

Shape into 2 small meat loaf pans and back ~40 minutes {or just one large one but you'll have to bake 1 hr}

Let is cool at least 5 minutes before trying to cut. I'm not sure I added enough oats or if I cut too soon, ours ended up being a pile of TASTY meat.

Enjoy! We scarfed ours...shoulda made 2lbs. What do you have to share today?

Ham & Cheese Sliders {Thoughtful Thursday}

Here’s my thoughtfulness for the week:

I love simple meals. My kids love being with me...everywhere. The kitchen is no exception. Some times meals are too time consuming to add the child chief to the mix if we want to eat before bed. But, because I enjoy teaching my kids through making meals, I like finding healthy simple things where they can easily help!

Today I wanna give you the "recipe" for

Ham and Cheese Sliders

1 pkg frozen rolls {we used Sister Schubert}
8 oz mozzarella cheese
8-10 slices of deli ham
Butter, salt, and pepper {optional}

Gather all ingredients. Pre-heat oven to according to roll pkg. Make sure children have chairs or step stools near the counter to stand on but away from the oven.

Shred cheese with a grater over a small bowl {my 2 and 3-year-old were capable of doing this}.
Rip ham into small pieces {almost any age could do this}.
Slice rolls in 1/2 {for older children or parent} and place on a cookie sheet.

Layer ham and cheese on one side of the roll and stack the other 1/2 on top.
Try to keep the shredded cheese and ham on the rolls as much as possible {HARD with littles helping layer but they love this part}
Bake rolls according to pkg.
{if you like your rolls a little more moist, I like to add a tiny bit of butter on the tops before baking and sprinkle a little of salt and pepper}

Add a side of fruit and the kids will eat it up because it's yummy and They Helped! You'll enjoy it because you got to spend time with your kids in the kitchen, made a simple meal with them, and it was healthy!

Sorry, my link-up is messed up and I haven't had time to fix it yet but I'd LOVE to have links to your thoughfulness!

How-to Make Your Own Playdough Mats {Thoughful Thursday}

I found these awesome FREE printables on Pinterest {duh} and my kids LOVE them!

You print them out, LAMINATE them, and then have fun.

I like them because they help my children learn to be more creative with Playdough rather than rolling it into "snacks" over and over again then tasting it.

For my older one, it gave her something for her brain to work on as well as her hands. My second child is a more physical learner so when we start working on numbers this will encourage her to pick it up quicker. I think I may make my own giant letters to laminate so she can work on learning those quicker as well!

If you don't have a laminator I would highly recommend getting one. I have the cheapest i could find and it works Great for all the things I want to use it for. It's a "Scott" brand and I found it at Wal-Mart. The refill laminating sheets are {relatively} cheap as well.

Do you have any fun things you do with your kids and their Playdough that encourage creativity and/or learning?
Do you have a laminator? If so, any tips or recommendations?
